China will meet its commitment to provide equal protection for registered trademarks owned by foreign enterprises in China

The Deputy Director of China's State Administration for Industry and Commerce, Li Dongsheng, said at a news conference held on July 11, that China would resolutely perform its undertaking to provide the same protection for the registered trademarks in China owned by foreign enterprises as for those owned by domestic enterprises.

Li Dongsheng said China would provide the same protection for the trademarks registered in China or those extended to Chinese territory through the Madrid Agreement Concerning the International Registration of Marks (hereinafter referred to as the Madrid Agreement), which are owned by foreign enterprises, natural persons or other entities, as the trademarks owned by domestic enterprises. The Chinese government would provide equal protection for these trademarks without discrimination according to the provisions of the Madrid Agreement.
